nap no. 025, a very lightweight throw {SOLD}

dimensions: 54x69in / 137x176cm

Use as a lightweight throw, a topper for a summer bed, a semi-sheer room divider or an evening shoulder wrap.

Made of linen double-gauze, not to be confused with the more common cotton version of double-gauze, though it is similar in weave structure. As far as I can determine, linen double-gauze is not a commonly available fabric; but it has excellent qualities of being very lightweight and delicate, yet incredibly sturdy, bordering on seriously indestructible.

Shapes inspired by beach stones are appliquéd via free stitching by hand: lots of running stitch, and french knots reminiscent of barnacles. A gazillion slow stitches. The edges remain raw, apropos of the nature of the fabric and style; they will not unravel — excepting the very occasional loose thread — an inherent quality of this remarkable fabric.

It has a hand-stitched label with nap logo and assigned number. This nap throw no. 025 is the only one of its kind. Designed and stitched in Provincetown. This throw also has the distinction of having been baptized in the ocean during an experimental photo shoot.

textile note: this is not a quilt. It is one layer of very lightweight, double-weave fabric with embroidered appliqué
